ROOTS (Rural Opportunities for Optimal Transformation in Students' Health) — Year 2

Summary

OSDE's ROOTS Competitive Grant, Year 2: a 12-month grant running November 2026–October 2027, for the same 60 rural PK–12 schools as Year 1. Schools receive professional development, mentoring, and up to $10,000 for approved equipment, contingent on completing required activities (trainings, coaching sessions, collaborative learning opportunities).

Eligibility

Eligible applicants are the 60 rural PK–12 schools previously selected for Year 1 ROOTS funding. These schools must be in rural Oklahoma communities with populations of 55,000 or fewer, located outside Oklahoma and Tulsa counties. Applicants must have an active Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) and maintain an active registration in SAM.gov during application, review, and award period. Fiscal sponsorship is allowed, and sponsors must serve as the applying entity.

Requirements Checklist

• Schools must complete required activities to receive and retain funding: participate in professional development, mentoring, trainings, coaching sessions, and collaborative learning opportunities as specified by OSDE. Funds (up to $10,000 per site) are strictly for approved equipment to support physical education, fitness, and wellness initiatives aligned with state standards. Recipients must comply with state procurement laws and submit any required reporting or program documentation.
