ROOTS (Rural Opportunities for Optimal Transformation in Students' Health) — Year 2

Summary

OSDE's ROOTS Competitive Grant, Year 2: a 12-month competitive grant for 60 rural PK-12 school sites selected through the application process, running November 2026-October 2027. Selected sites receive professional development, mentoring/coaching, collaborative learning, and up to $10,000 for approved physical education, fitness, and wellness equipment, contingent on completing required activities.

Eligibility

OSDE is seeking 60 rural PK-12 school sites through a competitive application process. Rural school districts may apply for multiple school sites. Applicants must serve eligible rural Oklahoma communities with populations under 55,000, outside Oklahoma and Tulsa counties. Requirements Checklist

• Selected sites must complete the OSDE ROOTS Year 2 activities, including mentoring/coaching sessions, professional development, an in-person training, book study, and communities of practice. Up to $10,000 per site may be used for approved equipment and supplies supporting physical education, fitness, and wellness initiatives aligned with Oklahoma standards. Equipment must be approved by OSDE before purchase and site personnel must complete required deliverables to receive full funding.
