ROOTS (Rural Opportunities for Optimal Transformation in Students' Health) — Year 1

Summary

OSDE's ROOTS Competitive Grant (Rural Opportunities for Optimal Transformation in Students' Health), provided under an RHTP subaward for the Presidential Fitness Test Preparation program. Year 1: a 6-month grant running May–October 2026, for 60 rural PK–12 schools. Schools receive professional development, mentoring, and up to $10,000 for approved equipment, contingent on completing required activities (trainings, coaching sessions, collaborative learning opportunities). Eligibility

Eligible applicants are rural PK–12 school sites in Oklahoma. Rural is defined as communities with populations of 55,000 or fewer, located outside Oklahoma and Tulsa counties. The official list of eligible schools is provided as Attachment A on the RHTP funding site. Applicants must have an active Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) and be registered in SAM.gov throughout the application, review, and award period. Fiscal sponsorship is permitted; the fiscal sponsor must submit the application and complete the 'Organization overview and capacity' section.

Requirements Checklist

• Funded sites must complete all required activities: professional development, mentoring, trainings, coaching sessions, and collaborative learning opportunities. Funding is contingent on completion of these activities and adherence to approved equipment purchases. Applicants must follow Oklahoma state procurement laws, maintain active insurance as specified on the RHTP site, and submit utilization reports as required.
