North Dakota Health and Human Services, through the Rural Health Transformation Program, is offering a competitive funding opportunity to support rural organizations implementing artificial intelligence (AI) innovation projects that expand rural healthcare delivery capacity. Funded solutions must serve rural North Dakota residents, including rural tribal communities, and demonstrate measurable improvements in early detection, access, patient experience, and care quality via AI-enabled approaches. This funding is aligned with Initiative 4 of North Dakota’s RHTP. Approximately $1,000,000 is available for Year 1, with anticipated awards of around $200,000 per organization. Applications are due July 29, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. CT, and projects must be completed by September 30, 2027.
Eligible applicants are rural organizations serving North Dakota rural residents, including tribal communities. Cities of Grand Forks, Fargo, West Fargo, and Bismarck are considered urban and are not eligible unless the applicant demonstrates that at least 50% of the population served is North Dakota rural citizens or the project focus is on serving rural citizens. Funding must be used to support North Dakota rural citizens.
