Maryland RHTP: RISE (Recruiting, Inspiring, Supporting, and Educating) — Pipeline Training Programs and Advance Provider Pathways

Summary

The program is 100% funded by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services as part of a financial assistance award to bolster and retain healthcare professionals who intend to build careers, lives and families in rural Maryland.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants are organizations focused on healthcare workforce development, including educational institutions, nonprofit organizations, and healthcare employers serving rural Maryland populations. Additional eligibility criteria may be specified in the primary solicitation document.

Requirements Checklist

• Year Rural Service Commitment (per MD Labor Workforce RHTP FAQ, https://labor.maryland.gov/employment/wdrhtp-faqs.shtml):
• Individuals who receive direct financial support and/or training that leads to a certificate, credential, or degree in a clinical occupation must sign a contract committing to five years of service in a rural area with the grantee. Grantees must clawback funds at a pro-rated level if the commitment is not fulfilled. Direct financial incentives (stipends, scholarships, recruitment/relocation bonuses, rural clinical-rotation stipends, preceptor compensation, etc.) also trigger this commitment.
• Exempt roles: Community Health Workers (CHWs), Certified Peer Recovery Specialists, Direct Support Professionals, healthcare administrative roles, and healthcare IT roles.
