Maryland RHTP: Apprenticeship Intermediaries and RAMP Expansion for Allied Health Employers

Requirements Checklist

• Year Rural Service Commitment (per MD Labor Workforce RHTP FAQ, https://labor.maryland.gov/employment/wdrhtp-faqs.shtml):
• Individuals who receive direct financial support and/or training that leads to a certificate, credential, or degree in a clinical occupation must sign a contract committing to five years of service in a rural area with the grantee. Grantees must clawback funds at a pro-rated level if the commitment is not fulfilled. Direct financial incentives (stipends, scholarships, recruitment/relocation bonuses, rural clinical-rotation stipends, preceptor compensation, etc.) also trigger this commitment.
• Exempt roles: Community Health Workers (CHWs), Certified Peer Recovery Specialists, Direct Support Professionals, healthcare administrative roles, and healthcare IT roles.
• Qualifying employment must be with an employer located in a Maryland jurisdiction defined as "wholly rural" by state statute — telehealth service does not satisfy the requirement. An individual may change employers and continue fulfilling the commitment as long as the new employer is also in a wholly-rural jurisdiction.
