Funds programs that expand rural-based, non-Graduate Medical Education (non-GME) healthcare workforce career training by developing new training pathways, strengthening employer-education partnerships, creating career ladders for rural residents, and expanding apprenticeship and internship opportunities. Part of Utah's RHTP RISE workforce initiative.
Consortium model required: at minimum an Education/Training Partner capable of delivering the relevant training, plus a Rural Healthcare Employer/Provider Partner operating in a rural Utah county that commits to clinical placement, apprenticeship, or hiring completers. Eligible lead applicants: USHE postsecondary institutions, accredited private nonprofit colleges/universities in Utah, local education agencies/school districts (2.3 only), Tribal Nations located in Utah, Utah rural healthcare providers, and nonprofits with demonstrated rural workforce-development or healthcare-education experience. Must primarily serve individuals in rural Utah counties, excluding Davis, Salt Lake, Utah, and Weber counties.
