The program will support up to 121 new, entry-level, paid healthcare apprenticeships in rural West Virginia communities, with apprenticeships targeting high-need roles such as EMTs and technicians. Participating apprentices must commit to five years of rural service post-hire. Funding is performance-based and contingent upon meeting employment and retention benchmarks. Grantees must adhere to rigorous reporting and compliance standards, including quarterly programmatic and financial reports. Applicants must demonstrate the capacity to recruit, train, and retain rural health workers, deliver structured apprenticeship training, enforce the service obligation, comply with all reporting, and co-fund apprentice costs as per guidance. Applications must be submitted via the WV OASIS VSS portal by the stated deadline. FAQs will be posted publicly after the question deadline.
Eligible applicants are entities capable of recruiting and cofunding paid healthcare apprenticeships for entry-level roles in rural West Virginia (e.g., hospitals, clinics, training organizations, and workforce intermediaries).
