Through Telehealth Pilot Grants, the Indiana Department of Health (IDOH) is funding one or more organizations serving rural Indiana to either extend/expand an existing successful telehealth program or run a short pilot of new telehealth program(s). Technology vendors are explicitly encouraged to apply, with or without a rural healthcare partner (vendors applying alone must detail their plan to reach and engage the target population). Findings will inform Indiana's rollout of a unified, AI-enhanced statewide telehealth system under RHTP Initiative 8 (Growing Telehealth Access and Infrastructure). Funding is tied to project deliverables, not reimbursements.
Eligible applicants include organizations providing health services to or within rural Indiana counties, as defined by Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) rural designation (both fully rural and partially rural counties, with partially rural counties required to demonstrate that proposed activities directly benefit rural populations). Technology vendors are eligible to apply and are strongly encouraged to partner with a rural health organization. Vendors applying without such a partner must supply detailed plans for engaging the target population and sustaining efforts locally. Entities serving non-rural counties are only eligible if their proposal demonstrates direct service to individuals in designated rural counties.
