the program encourages placement in rural collaboratives, including CalRHT primary and maternity care regional collaboratives. Supported under CalRHT Initiative 1: Transformative Care Model — Expand and Support Rural Workforce Capacity, the program provides up to $6.5 million in Budget Period 1, with estimated awards ranging from $150,000 to $500,000 per fellowship program per year for eligible programmatic and infrastructure expenses.
Eligible applicants must be aspiring or existing GME sponsoring institutions, including: hospitals (including CAHs), FQHCs or Look-Alikes, Tribal Clinics/Native American Health Centers, certified Rural Health Clinics, other comprehensive community health clinics, regional collaboratives/consortia, health care districts, and academic medical centers/universities. Applicants must have an active SAM.gov registration and Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) at time of submission. Partnerships with rural or rural-serving sites are strongly encouraged but not required.
