# FY 2027 Rural Clinical Rotations Grant Program Request For Proposal

The FY 2027 Rural Clinical Rotations Grant Program funds Minnesota-based accredited clinical training programs to add, expand, or enhance rural clinical rotations for health professionals including physicians, physician assistants, advanced practice registered nurses, pharmacy, dentistry, dental therapy, and mental health professionals. The program is established under Minnesota Statutes Sec. 144.1505 to strengthen the rural healthcare workforce and address health equity in rural and Tribal Nation communities by expanding clinical training opportunities, increasing the number of graduates practicing in rural communities, and providing greater access to primary and mental health care in rural settings. Priority is given to programs with strong rural partnerships, history of rural training, plans for sustainability, team-based primary care models, and evidence-based health equity components. Funded projects must demonstrate meaningful partnerships with clinical sites (with commitment letters required), an ongoing track record and sustainability plan for rural training, and must maintain compliance with comprehensive program requirements including quarterly progress and financial reporting, mandatory site visits, and annual financial reconciliation. Grants are awarded for an initial one-year period (March 1, 2027 – February 29, 2028), and may be amended and extended annually for up to five years if requirements are met and funds are available. Annual grant funding is estimated at $2,000,000–$2,500,000 in total across 4–8 grantees, with a maximum award of $400,000 per grantee per year. There is no cost share/match requirement.
